Bow rudders

The Veth-bow rudder, also called Veth-V-rudder, has a simple design.

It consists of two rudder blades, which are mounted straight on the surface of the front of the ship and operated through two hydraulic cylinders with stainless steel bars. The blades are available in three sizes: 200, 220, and 240 cm. The total installation height is 262 cm. The blades project beneath the ship for a maximum of 65 cm.

The control takes place with a follow-up steering handle that looks like a pilot. Switching from full starboard to full port takes twelve seconds.

An advantage of the Veth bow rudder is the limited power required for the control.
